Workshop Session

We had made a short field trip to Kuala Selangor to attend a workshop held by LASS (Lost Animal Souls Shelter) at Jalan Bestari, Kuala Selangor. We were briefed by Mr. Sam about importance of adoption program and ways to adopt and take care of stray dogs. We took turns to engage with these stray dogs during the workshop, it was indeed an unforgetable  experience showering and played with these stray dogs.

WORKING IN THE DESIGN TEAM

PROPOSAL 1
I was assigned to the design team with members of 4. The first task given is propose T-shirts design and button badges design.

PROPOSAL 2
The second proposal of  T-shirts design focuses on improving the visual quality and message of the tshirt.. Badges were canceled so that we could concentrate on a single product, to eliminate the risk of any printing issues .

PROPOSAL 3
Vicky Lee, Jane Ooi and Ricky took the responsibility to designing flyers for this dog adoption campaign in order to inform the public about our event which will be held in One Utama central Park apart from sharing this info via social media - Facebook.

Since the initial Designs were not approved by the group, I designed the 'Stray Pride' logo, which was later approved and used on 4 different colours of base t shirts, which Tan kai Chong, Jane and myself contributed to a successful collection of comfortable and casual-wear shirts. After hours of juggling, I finally came up with this logo as the logo for the Tshirt design

INITIAL DESIGNS

the two designs that I initially proposed with a 'galaxy/universe' effect in mind, however due to cost issues of the various colours of the design, I had to later simplify it to a more monotone design, which was cost-effective.

REFLECTION

The event was indeed a success, to everythign that I had learnt to everything that i was able to give out to the dogs and also the awareness that was created. We managed to raise RM 10,818 which already exceeded the expected target because of each group members' effort and hardwork, especially our leaders who worked on this project unconditionally. Through this module, I am enhanced my understanding of community needs and also shelters around malaysia which work effortlessly to contribute to others happiness, and to promote awareness about such positive topics.I have learnt to be more aware of the community issues, needs and most importantly my responsibility as a student to do what I am capable of in order to help the stray dogs and others who are in need.
