PROJECT ONE - SKETCH JOURNAL
For the first project of this semester, we were required to individually produce 10 sketches that give an idea of the place assigned to study, investigate and measure ( District Officer's House batu gaja ) that we have carried out the measured drawing exercise. The sketching was carried out as an on-site exercise where we were tasked to sketch and document the physical and intangible qualities of the buildings as well as the immediate context of the site, ranging from broad urban planning to the smallest detail of the ornaments used in the building, intangible aspects such as people of the place doing their daily activities, cultural elements and unique qualities.
The compulsory task was to to sketch the plans, sections and elevations of the building.
The additional sketchs are to include at least 2 each of these categories:
1) the genius loci
2) poetic quality
3) cultural attributes
4) technical/ construction details
any media can be used, such as pencil, pen, markers, charcoal or watercolor to express observations.
captions are to be added to each piece of sketches, annotating vital informations to what are drawn.

REFLECTION
The site visit to Perak was exciting and extremely benifitial academically and also as means of learning to work in a large group, coordinating data and making measurements and recording them effectively. Throughout this module, I've learned to identify and classify architectural historic structures and buildings via our assigned site.I am also able to recognize and recall architectural historic documentation method as well as explaining the application of the said documentation. In addition to this, I am also able to recognize the techniques of measured drawings; building constructions, architectural details and elements. most importantly, the skills of executing fieldwork and hands-on measurement were learned. This project was a very useful exercise to experience real life techniques of measuring and coordinating building data. On site sketching was also a useful practice to observe the surroundings and acknowledge little details that bring out the ambience and feelings to a certain building. This project has improved my on site sketching skills as well as allowed me to experiment with various techniques of rendering and using mixed media to present and visualize my sketches to convey the intended feeling and story of the house. Furthermore , having to learn to translate measured drawings data into scale drawings via Cad was the most challenging yet, useful skill obtained.

REFLECTION
This project was the most challenging yet most satisfying project I have been a part of. Being in the model team has been a great and rewarding experience. Everyone put equal yet exceptional efforts in creating this beautiful exploded model of D.O house. This project has allowed me to enhance not ony my skills in model making, but also in organizing, coordinating, lazering techniques, experimenting and working together in a group to produce a compatible output. It took hours to create each layer seen in the model as well as the tiny details engraved and placed on each section. The exploding bit itself was the most challenging and took over 8 hours. I'm very grateful for being a part of something I'm proud of and congratulate all my team members for their amazing efforts.
